The future, explained every weeknight.

How We Make This

This page says how an edition gets made, so you can judge what you read.

Sources, primary first

We start with primary sources: announcements from agencies and companies, regulatory filings and dockets, court records, papers and trial registries, launch and spacecraft data published by operators and agencies, and statements made on the record. Reporting by other outlets helps us find stories; when we use it, we credit it and link to it. Every ticker item links to its source.

AI-assisted drafting

Each edition is drafted with help from Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Claude gathers items from our sources inside the edition's time window, sorts them by desk and writes first drafts.

A human editor approves every edition

Dennis W. Davis, the Editor-in-Chief, reads and approves every edition before it publishes. Nothing publishes without that approval.

Quotes and paraphrase

A direct quote stays under 15 words and links to where it was said. Everything else is paraphrased in our own words. Lines in Voices are the opinions of the people quoted and carry an (opinion) label.

Transcripts

We use transcripts of video and audio to check what was said. We never publish them.

Images

Photos of real events are real photos, and every one is credited to whoever took it. We use public domain images from U.S. government sources such as NASA and DVIDS, the Defense Department's media service, and company press kit images only where the company allows editorial use. We save every photo and illustration on our own site; the only pictures that load from elsewhere are the YouTube stills shown with videos.

When a story has no usable photo we show an illustration instead. Illustrations are made with AI and always labeled: their credit reads "Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)". They never show a real, named person and are never made to look like a news photo of a real event. The colored artwork for each desk is an illustration too.

The credit, source and license of every image are kept with the edition files.

Video

Videos load from youtube-nocookie.com, and only after you click play. Until then the page shows a still image and a plain link.

Tokenized assets

Tokenization coverage is not investment advice. We report what is issued, held and settled; we do not tell anyone what to buy.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it, note the fix on the edition and log it with its date on Corrections.

Reuse and machine-readable copies

Text and data are licensed CC BY 4.0. Every edition has a Markdown twin and a JSON copy, and the site has an llms.txt and an OpenAPI description. Please cite with a link.
