> Anthropic's filing to sell shares to the public, OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra, a prostate cancer approval and a weekend of strong cancer trial results, and what each means for you.

## In 60 Seconds

- Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI, filed to sell shares to the public on Nasdaq. Its revenue grew about 14 times in a year.
- OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra, which it says finishes computer tasks more than three times faster than its bigger models, at half the price of the model it replaces.
- The FDA approved a two-drug combination for a form of advanced prostate cancer, and Europe's biggest cancer meeting brought several new drugs that helped patients live months longer.
- SpaceX fired all 33 engines of its giant Starship booster ahead of a November flight, and a small airplane landed on a Manhattan helipad.

## Lead Signal

**Anthropic, the maker of Claude, files to go public**

On Monday morning, Anthropic made public its [registration statement](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2130357/000162828026067168/anthropicpbc-sx1.htm) to sell shares on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT. The filing shows $16.3 billion in revenue for the first six months of 2026, up from $1.16 billion a year earlier. Its operating loss shrank to $693 million from $2.1 billion. The reported net loss is $80.7 billion, but $72.4 billion of that is an accounting charge for the changing value of its convertible notes and similar investments, not cash spent. Twenty-two banks are handling the sale, led by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

The company's value and listing date are not in the filing. [Fortune reports](https://fortune.com/2026/10/26/anthropics-s-1/) a target of $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion and a listing as early as Thanksgiving week. Those figures are reports, not facts yet.

> **Why it matters:** an "IPO" is when a private company starts selling shares to anyone. Until now, only big investors could own a piece of the companies building the most advanced AI. If this sale happens, ordinary people with a brokerage account could too. The revenue tells its own story: in one year, people and businesses went from spending about $1 billion to $16 billion in six months on one company's AI, because it is doing real work for them. Not investment advice.

Disclosure: Singularity Nightly is drafted with help from Anthropic's Claude. We cover Anthropic like any other company.

## The Desks

### AI Models

**OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra: an AI that uses your computer, faster and for less**

![Illustration: a ribbon of green light from a laptop fills in forms on screen while a person relaxes with coffee](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/computer-use-helper-1376.jpg)
*An AI that can click and type on a computer for you. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

OpenAI says [GPT-6.1 Terra](https://community.openai.com/t/gpt-6-1-terra-delivering-fast-and-capable-computer-use-at-a-lower-price/1409900) finishes computer tasks more than three times faster on average than its larger GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol models, and its price to developers is half that of the GPT-5.6 Terra model it replaces. It is rolling out in ChatGPT and in Codex, OpenAI's coding tool, for paying users. [9to5Mac reports](https://9to5mac.com/2026/10/26/openai-upgrades-chatgpt-and-codex-with-new-gpt-6-1-terra-model/) that on OpenAI's own test, its rate of wrong answers on quick settings fell from 53.6% to 16.7%.

> **Why it matters:** "computer use" means the AI can see a screen and click, type and fill in forms, the way you would. That is how an assistant could one day book your appointments, renew a prescription online or sort out a billing mistake while you do something else. Faster and cheaper is what turns a demo into something millions of people actually use.

Disclosure: Singularity Nightly is drafted with help from Anthropic's Claude, an OpenAI competitor. We cover every lab the same way.

### [LAUNCH] Launch and Orbit

**Starship's booster fires all 33 engines ahead of Flight 15**

![Illustration: a giant steel rocket booster fires a ring of engines on its launch mount amid billowing steam](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/booster-engine-test-1376.jpg)
*A giant reusable booster test-fires its engines before flight. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

At Starbase, Texas, SpaceX ran a full-length test firing of Super Heavy Booster 22, about 15 seconds with all 33 Raptor 3 engines, on Sunday, [Space.com reports](https://www.space.com/space-exploration/launches-spacecraft/spacex-ignites-giant-super-heavy-booster-engines-ahead-of-daring-starship-launch-video). The ship that will ride on top still needs its own engine test. Flight 15 is targeted for November; SpaceX plans to try catching both the booster and the ship. These are company targets, and Starship dates often move.

> **Why it matters:** Starship is the rocket meant to land astronauts on the Moon and, one day, carry people to Mars. Because both stages are designed to come back and fly again, like an airplane, it could make trips to space far cheaper. Every test like this one is a step toward the day ordinary people can buy a ticket.

### Air Mobility

**A small airplane lands on a Manhattan helipad**

Electra flew its two-seat hybrid-electric demonstrator in and out of the 62-foot square pad at the Downtown Manhattan Skyport on Monday, [the company says](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/no-runway-required-electra-takes-off-and-lands-ultra-short-airplane-at-manhattan-heliport-302919449.html), calling it the first landing there by a fixed-wing airplane that does not take off straight up. It needs about 150 feet to take off or land. Its 9-passenger version is aimed at commercial service from 2030, [AIN reports](https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/futureflight/2026-10-26/electras-ultra-short-demonstrator-lands-manhattan-heliport).

> **Why it matters:** airplanes are cheaper and quieter to run than helicopters, but they need runways. One that can use a downtown helipad could make short city-to-city hops, say Manhattan to Boston, quicker and more affordable. It is a test aircraft today, years from carrying passengers.

### Medicine

**FDA approves a two-drug combination for advanced prostate cancer**

![Illustration: two glowing capsules fit like puzzle pieces into a matching gap in a green strand of DNA](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/matched-cancer-medicine-1376.jpg)
*Matching medicine to the gene changes in a patient's own tumor. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

The FDA [approved](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/resources-information-approved-drugs/fda-approves-talazoparib-enzalutamide-metastatic-androgen-pathway-modulation-naive-or-sensitive) Pfizer's talazoparib (Talzenna) together with enzalutamide (Xtandi) for men whose prostate cancer has spread but still responds to hormone therapy, and whose tumors carry certain gene changes found by an approved test. In the trial of 599 men, those on the combination had their cancer held in check for so long that the middle point was not yet reached, against 45.8 months with enzalutamide alone. Survival data are still coming.

It capped a weekend at ESMO, Europe's largest cancer meeting, where several new drugs helped patients with lung and endometrial cancer live months longer (see the Ticker).

> **Why it matters:** prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. Matching a drug to the gene changes in a person's own tumor means the right patients get a treatment that works better for them, earlier, before the cancer stops responding. Step by step, cancers that used to be a death sentence are becoming diseases people live with for years.

### Defense

**A German company shows cheaper interceptors for fast attack drones**

![Illustration: a small interceptor drone streaks upward on a green trail above a quiet city at night](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/drone-interceptor-1376.jpg)
*Cheaper interceptors built to stop fast attack drones. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

Helsing unveiled two AI-guided interceptors meant to stop Russia's fast Geran drones for under $100,000 a shot: a jet-powered model at about 700 km/h with a 20 km range, and a rocket-powered one near 3,000 km/h, [Defense News reports](https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2026/10/26/helsing-unveils-interceptor-missiles-designed-to-chase-russias-fast-flying-geran-drones/). They are still in testing, with readiness expected in the second half of 2027.

> **Why it matters:** wars now involve swarms of cheap drones, and shooting them down with million-dollar missiles cannot last. Cheaper ways to stop them protect cities and power plants.

### Law and Policy

**A light that tells you a car is driving itself**

![Illustration: a car with no driver glows with small cyan marker lights on a city street at dusk as a pedestrian watches](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/driverless-cyan-lights-1376.jpg)
*A cyan light could tell you at a glance that no one is driving. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration [proposed rules](https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/10/26/2026-21794/federal-motor-vehicle-safety-standards-modernization-of-fmvss-no-108-to-accommodate-ads-equipped-vehicles) for cyan (blue-green) marker lights on self-driving cars. The lights would be optional, but any car that has them would need four to eight, seen from the front, sides and rear, burning steady when the car is driving itself. The same proposal updates lighting rules for cars built with no steering wheel or pedals, so turn signal and headlight switch rules written for a human driver no longer block them. Comments are due Nov. 25.

> **Why it matters:** today you cannot always tell whether a car has a person at the wheel. A standard color, the same on every company's car, would let you know at a glance whether to wave to the driver or wait for the car. It is also one more rule being rewritten for a world where some cars have no driver's seat at all.

### Tokenized Assets

**Hong Kong lets the public trade tokenized funds around the clock**

![Illustration: a phone showing linked green blocks, held up under a sky that is half day and half night](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/fund-always-open-1376.jpg)
*Tokenized fund shares that can trade at any hour of any day. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

Hong Kong's securities regulator approved the first secondary trading of two tokenized money market funds from ChinaAMC on a licensed trading platform, open to everyday investors 24 hours a day, every day, [The Standard reports](https://www.thestandard.com.hk/finance/article/346511/SFC-approves-worlds-first-secondary-trading-of-tokenized-public-funds). The regulator says more products may follow.

> **Why it matters:** "tokenized" means a fund's shares are recorded on a blockchain, so they can be bought and sold any hour, like sending a text. Today, most funds only trade on weekdays. If this works, saving and investing could become as always-on as the rest of your phone. Not investment advice.

### Wildcard

**Self-driving excavators raise $600 million**

![Illustration: a yellow excavator with an empty cab digs at sunrise while a worker supervises from a distance with a tablet](https://singularitynightly.com/img/editions/self-driving-excavator-1376.jpg)
*Excavators that dig on their own while people supervise. Credit: Illustration: Singularity Nightly (AI-generated)*

Bedrock Robotics raised [$600 million](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/10/26/3388197/0/en/bedrock-robotics-raises-600-million-series-c-to-scale-autonomous-construction-equipment-across-u-s-sites.html) at a $4.1 billion valuation. Its self-driving excavators began paid work on construction sites in August, and new contracts cover 8 states, including Georgia.

> **Why it matters:** construction has a shortage of skilled operators, and digging is slow, dirty and sometimes dangerous. Machines that dig on their own could build homes, roads and power lines faster and cheaper, while people supervise from a safe distance.
